Your Strengths Are What Will Make You Successful

Have you ever been told to focus more and develop your weaknesses rather than work on your strengths and make them stronger?

I’ve been there.

It is pretty frustrating.

We are all skilled in different areas, and each has unique strengths and weaknesses.

I have worked in the hospitality business for years and have always been a front-of-house manager.

My job is to work with employees and ensure they create a one-of-a-kind guest experience for our guests.

I hire and train staff and try to talk to every guest who enters the restaurant to get feedback on their experience.

One day, the cook called out, and I was told I would be in the kitchen to cover the cook’s absence.

It was a disaster.

There were long waits for food, messed up orders, and food quality suffered. That was my first and only time in the kitchen

Not only was that not my strength and area of focus, but the guest experience was not what it should have been.

There is a reason a fish doesn’t climb a tree or a snake doesn’t fly.

When we focus on our strengths rather than our weaknesses, we are encouraged to use our natural talents, skills, and passions to succeed and be fulfilled.

Focusing on our strengths leads to higher performance and productivity.

When we align with our strengths, we excel and produce quality work. This will cause you to have more confidence, motivation, and a sense of accomplishment.

Focusing on your weaknesses will only lead to feelings of inadequacy and frustration, preventing you from performing at your best.

Focusing on your strengths can help you stand out and separate yourself from others.

It will also make you known for your expertise in certain areas, making you very valuable to your employer and the job market.
